PURPOSE:To easily retrieve a targeted recording medium out of plural recording media, by lighting a recording light source intermittently with a binary signal converted from an original image, and imprinting an index lavel possible to be retrieved visually on the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:When an original 19 on which the character of a retrieving level, etc., is written, is placed on an image reading part, an image reading element array 11 driven by a driving circuit 12 photoelectrically-transduces one column on the original. The signal is sent to a binarization circuit 14 through an amplifier part 13, and is made into a digital signal. Meanwhile, a signal holding circuit 15 updates the output of the above digital signal according to a synchronizing signal from a synchronizing signal generation circuit 17 being operated by detecting the drive of the array 11, and controls the intermittent lightening of a LED array 16 corresponding to the output signal of a signal hold circuit 15. In such way, the image in which the original 19 is digital-sampled is exposed and photographed on a film 20.
