PURPOSE:To produce a titled thin steel sheet having excellent can openability by subjecting a specifically composed low-carbon steel slab to hot rolling, descaling and cold rolling, then to recrystallization annealing and temper rolling and specifying the thickness, yield point and tensile strength of the steel sheet. CONSTITUTION:The slab consisting, by weight &, of 0.0010-0.08% C, 0.05-0.40% Mn, <=0.03% P, <=0.03% S, 0.005-0.100% Al, <=0.0045% O, <=0.0080% N, and if necessary, >=1 kinds of <=0.0050% B and <=0.10% Cr and the balance Fe and unavoidable impurities is cast. Such slab is hot rolled at >=800 deg.C, is coiled at 500-750 deg.C and is cold rolled after descaling. The sheet is then temper-rolled after the recrystallization annealing at above the recrystallization temp. and <=800 deg.C. The mild steel sheet having 0.15-0.23mm thickness, <=30kgf/mm<2> yield point and <=39kgf/mm<2> tensile strength is obtd. by such stage. This steel sheet has the excellent can openability and is particularly suited for an easy opening can lid for cans having no internal pressure.
