PURPOSE:To use an I/O as a copy, to improve the use efficiency of the I/O and to transfer data with a suitable gradation even when a system executes other action by combining a scanner with a printer in an interface. CONSTITUTION:When an input image is printed, gradation image data converted to an electric signal by a CCD scanner 1 are stored through a scanner printer interface SP-I/F3 to a memory 5. Next, the data are transferred to a frame buffer 6, monitored by a CRT and an operator executes the image processing by the monitor image. In this case, the scanner 1 and a laser printer 2 can be connected in an SP-I/F3 and without fetching the image data into the internal part of a system, an original can be directly copied. Namely, the use efficiency of the I/O can be improved and the data can be transferred at an on-line/off-line through the gradation correcting table of a scanning 1 and so forth with a suitable gradation, by making always an input/output characteristic gamma into 1 (gamma=1) on a system bus 13.
