PURPOSE:To display a numerical formula of a form close to a numerical formula to be outputted on a display by designating a character size and an attribute in row unit on a display device, collecting the character, in which the base line and size of the character are coincident, into one row and inputting it. CONSTITUTION:For a character, numeral and symbol data inputted by a keyboard KB 15, the control code of the size and attribute for respective rows is designated by the KB 15 and displayed at a CRT 8. Thereafter, the data are read from a text RAM TRAM 5, the character, numeral and symbol data are patterned by a character generating ROMCG 6, and the control code of the size and attribute is sent through an interface 11 to a bit map memory BM 17. The BM 17 controls the pattern data of the character, numeral and symbol so as to come to be the designated character size and the attribute for respective rows and develops them to a BM. When the development is completed by the BM 17, the data of the BM 17 are outputted to a printer 18.
