PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of back-fire and improve durability of a gas burner by a method wherein a porous plate in a burner plate is made of a sintered alloy of heat-resistant metal having a better thermal conduction. CONSTITUTION:A porous plate 1 is made of sintered alloy having a heat- resistant characteristic as found in, for example, a stainless steel. A main flame (a) caused by mixture gas injected from several flame holes 2 formed in the porous plate 1 and a sub-flame (b) caused by mixture gas passing through the porous plate are positively formed in a combustion surface of a burner plate A. Since the burner plate A formed by sintered alloy of heat-resistant metal has a quite superior thermal conduction, mixture gas from a mixing gas passage 4 is flowed uniformly at each of the portions and cooled there, with the result that a surface temperature and a back surface temperature are kept in balanced condition and the burner plate A is not red heated and thus it becomes possible to have a high load combustion.
