PURPOSE:To obtain a composite material suitable for tire, etc., by forming a metal thin film on the outer circumference of a wire or tube by coaxial magnetron sputtering process, thereby bonding the metal-coated material with a rubber to form a composite material in high productivity at a reduced production cost. CONSTITUTION:The outer circumference of a cord, wire or pipe made of steel, fiber, strand, etc., of an organic material or wire, pipe or ribbon made of quartz, etc., is uniformly coated with a metal thin film (cobalt, copper zinc or >=2-component alloy containing at least one of the above metals) by coaxial magnetron sputtering process. The treated cord, etc., is covered with a rubber composition, which is vulcanized to obtain the objective composite material. |
