PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration and decomposition of the title cellulose acetate membrane without using formalin having many problems in toxicity and after-treatment by adding the bacteriophage acting specifically on cellulose acetate decomposing bacteria into the storing soln. of a cellulose acetate membrane or the plant raw liq. CONSTITUTION:Cellulose acetate decomposing bacteria belonging to Pseudomonas are cultured in a liq. culture medium, seawater is further added to the medium, and culture is further carried out. After the bacteriophage existing in seawater and acting specifically on cellulose acetate decomposing bacteria is thus cultured, the liq. culture medium is filtered. The bacteriophage is transferred to the filtrate side. The filtrate contg. cellulose acetate decomposing bacteria and bacteriophage is inoculated in the agar culture medium and cultured, and the bacteriophage acting specifically on cellulose acetate decomposing bacteria is isolated from the site on the agar surface at which the plaque of the decomposing bacteria is formed. The bacteriophage is added into the storing soln. of a cellulose acetate membrane or the plant raw liq.
