PURPOSE:To prevent the spread of burning of fire, generated on a kitchen table, and permit automatic fire extinction, by a method wherein generation of fire on the kitchen table is detected by a sensor unit when the fire is generated and a hood above the table is lowereded by a driving unit while a fire extinguisher is operated simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:When flame is generated from a cooking material on a kitchen table 7 and a heat sensor 4 has detected that a predetermined temperature is exceeded, the contact 4a of the heat sensor 4 is closed and electric current is conducted from a power source 10. According to the conduction of current, a motor 3a in a driving unit 3 is rotated and the rotation is transmitted to a driving shaft 3d through gears 3b, 3c to expand the expanding section 2a of a duct 2 and lower a hood 1. When the contact 4a of the heat sensor 4 is closed, the valve 6b of a blow-off port 6a for a fire extinguisher 6 is opened and fire extinguishing chemicals, compressed and bottled into the fire extinguisher 6, are blown off against the kitchen table 7. Further, the valve 8a of a gas cock 8 is closed and fire, used in the kitchen table 7 for cooking, may be extinguished.
