PURPOSE:To enable the air flow within a combustion chamber to be changed into a turbulent flow uniformly and effectively while it is efficiently confined therein by providing the opening of the combustion chamber in such a manner that it has a lip protruding inward in the radial direction. CONSTITUTION:The opening 4 of a combustion chamber 2, which is provided on a piston head 1 in such a manner that it is sunk in the piston head 1, is displaced into a figure similar to the bottom part 3, and in the circumferential direction with respect to the bottom part 3 so that a lip 7 is formed. Hereby, the air flow introduced into and confined in the combustion chamber 2 can be easily changed into a turbulent flow by way of varying the quantity of overhang of the lip 7 along the circumferential direction of the combustion chamber 2. In addition, it is designed that the air flow produced within the combustion chamber 2 can be confined efficiently therein by allowing the lip 7 to be formed into the shape of convex curved surfaces 5a, 5b inward in the radial direction of the combustion chamber 2. Thereby, promotion of changing fuel into mixture and improvement of the air utilization factor can be achieved.
