PURPOSE:To satisfy the requirements of versatile users effectively while taking the privacy into account by providing a mode setting function as to whether message information is to be displayed or not at each telephone terminal equipment. CONSTITUTION:The mode relating to the display of message information is set by operating the function of a setting key of the display mode assigned to, e.g., a variable function key so as to start a layout control program in a CPU 5. The set display mode is stored in a memory 6 corresponding to attribute information. A master equipment sends message information comprising an attribute identifier A, a message length L and a message main body M to a telephone terminal set to urge the display of the message information. Thus, the attribute information A and the set mode information are collated in the telephone terminal set to control selectively the display of the message information inputted from the master set.
