PURPOSE:To realize stable low floating, by forming the width of an air bearing plane of respective floating rail in narrow width, evading a part in the neighborhood of a position where a thin film magnetic transducer is installed. CONSTITUTION:Respective floating rail 22 or 23 is cut in a inclined shape, and is narrowed so that, for example, its out side plane except the neighborhood of an air outflow end where the thin film magnetic transducers 28 and 29 are installed, is separated gradually from the air bearing planes 24 and 25 in a direction from the air outflow end to an inflow end, and respective air bearing plane 24 or 25 at the part except the neighborhood of the part where the thin film magnetic transducers 28 and 29 are installed, is formed in narrow width. The narrow width process of respective floating rail 22 or 23 can be easily formed by mechanical grinding process at the time of forming respective floating rail 22 or 23 at a slider 21. In such way, no step part cut steeply in a traveling direction of a medium is formed, and the disturbance of air flow due to the step part, or the accumulation of dust can be prevented, thereby, stable low floating can be obtained. |
