PURPOSE:To record a video signal with excellent vertical resolution by recording a color difference signal not recorded on a main track as a subtrack between main tracks. CONSTITUTION:A luminance signal Y is subject to frequency modulation at a band around 7MHz, a color difference signal R-Y is subject to frequency modulation around 1.2MHz and a color difference signal B-Y is frequencymodulated around 1.3MHz. The FM modulation video signal is recorded on the main track of a magnetic disk 42 by a main channel use magnetic head 34. The color difference signal R-Y in the sub channel recording circuit 36 is frequency-modulated around 7.2MHz and the color difference signal B-Y are amplitude-modulated around the 7.2MHz. The color difference signal is frequency-modulated around 7.3MHz. Then the MF color difference signal (B-Y). The FM modulation signal is recorded aside the sub track 75 at the magnetic disk 2 by using a channel magnetic head 40.
