PURPOSE:To prevent sag at an output signal by varying the tap gain of a transversal filter by a 1st section acted by the transversal filter among outputs subjected to ghost eliminating processing and a 2nd period except the 1st section. CONSTITUTION:An output of an arithmetic unit 14 is inputted to an integration device 32 via a gate circuit 31 of a sag detection circuit 30, and the period K1 acted by the transversal filter 13 of the gate control timing signal is coincident with the succeeding period K2. A tilt of the integration output of the period K1 and a tilt of an integration output of the period K2 are obtained from a subtractor 34 and a comparator 37 compares the level. The result of comparison is inputted to a sequence controller 20 to form gain control information in the tap gain control circuit 16. The direction of gain control in this case is a direction where the tilt of the periods K1, K2 of the output of the integration device 32 is made equal. Thus, a digital video signal without sag and ghost is obtained at an output terminal 15.
