PURPOSE:To detect the oblique insertion of a RM cartridge and to ensure the protection of this cartridge by forming an external slotting device with the cartridge and a card edge connector and connecting a switch set at the side of the card edge connector to an earth. CONSTITUTION:The SW1 and SW2 terminals 10 and 9 are connected to the earth 5 in a state where a ROM cartridge 6 is obliquely inserted to a card edge connector 7. Thus a +12V terminal 8 is short-circuited by the earth 5, while the electrode parts (+12V terminal, SW1 terminal, SW2 terminal) of a connector part are short-circuited at the oblique line parts of the cartridge 6. Therefore a clock terminal 11 and a D8 terminal 12 are also short-circuited by the earth 5 for the protection of an IC. In such a constitution, the number of additional parts is decreased and the breakage of the cartridge 6 under electric conduction is avoided against the serge voltage applied to the IC of the main body side when the cartridge 6 is inserted. Thus it is possible to prevent the fusing and breakage of the cartridge 6.
