PURPOSE:To realize a three-dimensional analysis of the behavior of a flow without contacting by forming a flow field of fluid where tracers are dispersed, and scattering incident slit light by the tracers and visualizing a flow of optional section quantitatively. CONSTITUTION:The fluid where tracers made of particulates or fine air bubbles are dispersed to uniform concentration is supplied from a fluid supply unit 2 to a water tank 1 to form the flow field in a water tank 1. Then, substantial slit light 5 is projected by a slit light source 3 and the incident light is scattered by the tracers 4 to visualize the flow of optional section quantitatively, thereby detecting variation in the concentration of a visual surface by an ITV camera as variation in the intensity of the scattered light. On the other hand, a flow field is reproduced with fluid where fine and flat tracers are dispersed to uniform density and the field is irradiated with the substantial slit light 5 and scattered by the flat tracers to detect variation in the intensity of the scattered light in the same flow surface as the optional section, thereby detecting the rotary motion of the flow in the optional section from the difference in the intensity of scattered light between both visual surfaces.
