PURPOSE:To operate a vehicle coupler not only manually but also remotely by means of an actuator by installing said actuator for operating a manual operation lever via an auxiliary arm. CONSTITUTION:With a lock plunger 7 being fitted into the engaging groove of a connecting hook by means of a manual operation lever 11, an air cylinder 58 is slightly extended from the solid line position in its initial condition. Thereby, a rotary shaft 54 is rotated via a swinging arm 57 up to the position of the two-dot chain line, rotating an auxiliary arm 51 in the direction of the arrow 59 to move the manual operation lever 11 in the direction of the arrow 13. When the air cylinder 58 is further extended, a plunger guide body 53 which is engaged with the long hole of the auxiliary arm 51 is moved as shown by the dashed line while sliding along a hole wall. Thereby, the manual lever 11 is rotated clockwise, retracting the lock plunger 7 via a guide part, to automatically remove a king pin from the connecting hook.
