PURPOSE:To attain accurate sampling operation even without tight setting of a timing of a chip select signal by setting each chip select signal to a different time width and using a signal electrode drive circuit to store the newest data by a prescribed length. CONSTITUTION:A control circuit 15 outputs data D1-D4 and chip select signal CE1(1/2H) and CH2(1H), first half 1/2H data are stored in a shift register of a signal electrode drive circuit 18a and latter half 1/2H data are stored in a shift register of a signal electrode drive circuit 18b. Chip select signals CE3(1/2H), CE4(1H) are outputted in a 3rd horizontal period, the first half data is written in the signal electrode drive circuit 18c and latter half data are written in a signal electrode drive circuit 18d. Then a latch clock phiH is outputted from a control circuit 15 to drive signal electrodes Y1 Y160 and Y1'-Y'160 of the liquid crystal panel 17.
