PURPOSE:To satisfactorily express an image without making the titled camera large in size and raising its price, by constituting a colorimetric sensor for measuring a color temperature for a white balance adjustment, as a spectral sensor for measuring the intensity of incident light by dividing it into plural wavelength areas, and controlling an aperture quantity of a diaphragm, based on its signal and a video signal. CONSTITUTION:From three pieces of photoelectric transducers 1a-1c, electric signals corresponding to components are outputted, an analog circuit 2 brings each spectral component to a logarithmic compression, calculates a difference of its components, a signal EV1 for showing the light intensity is outputted, and a correcting arithmetic circuit 3 discriminates a color temperature of a light source by taking a correlation of two kinds of specific signals, and outputs a white balance correcting signal. A diaphragm driving circuit 6 controls an aperture diameter of a diaphragm 7, based on a diaphragm value which has been calculated or corrected by a diaphragm calculating circuit 5. In this way, an illuminance detecting means is used as a spectral sensor, as well, an exclusive illuminance detecting means becomes unnecessary and the constitution is simplified, and this unit becomes useful for making a camera small in size and reducing its cost.
