摘要 PURPOSE:To convert a single optical pulse to an optical pulse train with easy adjustment and reduced loss by providing an optical fiber for delaying an optical pulse which is reflected by an optical branching surface, and a light beam which is made incident from the reverse side of the optical branching surface and is transmitted, and making them incident on the back side of the optical branching surface. CONSTITUTION:An optical element converting a single optical pulse to an optical pulse train is constituted of an optical branching device 2 having the optical branching surface 2a and an incident means 1 making the signal optical pulse incident on the front surface 2a, a delay line including an optical fiber 3 which delays an optical pulse component reflected at the front surface 2a and make it incident on the surface 2a with delay, and emitting means 4 composed of light beam which is made incident on the front surface 2a to be transmitted and of light beam which is made incident on the back surface 2a to be reflected. In this way, the single optical pulse is effectively distributed, and an optical pulse train which is attenuated in a prescribed ratio of an equal time interval can be generated. The conversion can be made whose loss is smaller than that of an optical element forming an optical pulse train from a single optical pulse by the use of a Fabry-Perot plate.
