PURPOSE:To enhance the durability to the repeated irradiation of reading light and to improve storage stability, by forming an optical recording medium by providing a recording layer containing a dye represented by a specific general formula and a quencher on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A dye represented by formula I (wherein R1-R6 are a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or a monovalent org. residue, A is a divalent org. residue bonded by a double bond, and X<-> is an anion residue) and a quencher are dissolved in an org. solvent such as methanol to prepare a coating solution. This coating solution is applied to a sheetlike substrate such as a glass plate or a plastic sheet and dried to form an optical recording medium having a recording layer. Further, as an embodiment of the quencher, there is a bis-dithio-alpha- diketone type compound represented by formula II (wherein R<1>-R<4> are an alkyl group or an aryl group, and M is a divalent transition metal atom). |
