PURPOSE:To prevent a light absorbing material from sticking on a phosphor film when forming a black matrix surface by expanding a light decay-type polymer solution on a phosphor film surface after the phosphor film is formed and back- exposing to coat only picture element portions. CONSTITUTION:After a phosphor film consisting of three-color phosphor picture elements is formed by using a light adhesive compound on the inner surface of the panel glass, the whole area is wetted with water into a pre-wet condition, a 3% solution of poly(vinyl methyl ketone) as a light decay-type polymer dissolved in toluene is expanded on the surface of water to form a film. After drying, when it is exposed with ultraviolet rays from the front of the panel glass, the phosphor picture elements serve as a mask and only gap portions between picture elements are exposed, and the poly(vinyl methyl ketone) film at the exposed portions is decayed. Next, when a light absorbing material is applied on the film surface by a spray method, etc., the light absorbing material sticks to the portions with no film between picture elements due to the stickiness of the light adhesive compound. By developing while spraying the air, the light absorbing material on the picture element film is easily removed, and the light absorbing material sticks only on the gap portions between picture elements. |
