PURPOSE:To make it possible to automate the setting for changing the cut length of a steel wire, by providing a length setting means and a rod-like wire cutting means adapted to be associated with the former means so that the length setting means is moved to a predetermined position by a drive means to be positioned. CONSTITUTION:A required cut length of a steel wire 19 is set such that a ball screw nut threadedly engaged with a ball screw 6 is rotated by rotating a servo-motor 1 to move a stopper 18 secured to the ball screw nut along the ball screw, and therefore, the stopper 18 may easily moved to a predetermined position. Accordingly the workability may be enhanced during change in the cut length of the steel wire. Further, during cutting, the leading end of the steel wire 19 on feed abuts against the length setting stopper 18 to actuate a plate cutting blade in association with movement of the stopper 18 by a slight distance, and further, the operation is made instantly so that it is possible to surely cut the steel wire to a predetermined length.
