PURPOSE:To prevent disabled feeding and damage of paper, by moving a carriage such that a print paper is bent to a platen side by means of a paper guide when a signal for feeding the print paper is inputted while accompanying no print operation. CONSTITUTION:After a print paper is fed through rotation of a platen 2 and the tip thereof reaches a position corresponding to a press roller 5, a paper feed signal is inputted while accompanying no print operation, thereby when the press roller 5 is returned to the direction toward the platen 2, the press roller 5 may float from the platen 2 because of the rigidity of the print paper. In such a case, a carriage 12 is moved at least prior to collision of the tip of print paper against a cover 17 so as to bend the print paper toward the platen 2 by means of a paper guide 16, thereafter the platen 2 is rotated to feed the print paper. Consequently, the tip of paper can be directed reliably toward the discharge port side thus preventing disabled feeding or damage of paper.
