PURPOSE:To enable reliable correction of a printed character or character string, by operating a correction command means and erasing data rewritten onto a display through operation of a switching means for the purpose of correction then making a new printing. CONSTITUTION:When a random key is operated through a keyboard 12, CPU54 drives a print mechanism drive 56 to make a printing through a print mechanism 16 and to store the data into a print data memory 66 in RAM64. When a word erasing key is depressed, data are erased from a print data memory 66 and a current position memory 68. When a code key and a word erasing key are operated simultaneously, the machine enters into a display correction mode according to a program 62 in ROM60 and the print mechanism 16 is faced on the basis of both memories 66, 68, while a new data are read out from the print data memory 66 and displayed onto a liquid crystal display 14. Thereafter, a cursol is operated to operate a word erasing key so as to erase the data and make a new printing. Consequently, rewriting can be carried out easily and reliably.
