PURPOSE:To surely carry out the elevation of a multi-spindle head with a simple arrangement, by providing an elevator communicating between elevating rails in first and second guide rails and chains and a cylinder coupled with the elevator so as to simplify the arrangement of delivery to and from an elevating mechanism. CONSTITUTION:An arbitrary multi-spindle head on a first guide rail 5 is brought onto the position of an elevating rail 10 by means of an index mechanism 25, and is elevated by an elevating mechanism 60. When it comes to the position of a second guide rail 6, a new multi-spindle head to be fed is moved onto an elevating rail 18, and is brought onto the first guide rail 5 by the elevating mechanism 60. Since an elevator 62 is coupled to a pair of chain wound around sprocket wheels 76 which are rotated in synchronization with each other, it is never inclined, and is surely elevated by a single hydraulic cylinder. Accordingly, it is possible to simplify the delivery of multi-spindle heads, and to surely elevate them with a simple arrangement.
