PURPOSE:To decrease deformation and failure of a pattern at the time of molding and to improve the dimensional accuracy of the pattern by assembling foamed polystyrene so as to enclose a skeleton formed by providing reinforcing materials corresponding to the height or thickness of a casting to upper and lower parts and connecting and fixing the materials therebetween by bone members and sticking thin reinforcing sheets on the outside surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:The skeleton is formed by assembling 4 pieces of the bone materials 7 which are the bone members around a top plate 1 and a bottom plate 2 which are two pieces of the reinforcing materials having the plane corresponding to the prescribed height of the casting and joining these materials. Such skeletones are fixed to each other. The top plate 1, the bottom plate 2, and the bone materials 7 are enclosed with the foamed polystyrene 8 and are stuck and assembled to mold the roughly shaped pattern after said skeletone is finished. An electric heating wire which is heated red hot is moved along the top and bottom planes of the curved outside surface thereof to mold the pattern of the foamed polystyrene to the prescribed shape. Steel sheets 9 are stuck to the inside and outside surfaces of such foamed polystyrene pattern by which the pattern for casting is completed.
