The system for vertical handling and towing of ISO containers consists of four legs with mechanical jacks 5 attached temporarily to the corners of the container by means of top fittings 3 and bottom fittings 4 and each mounted either on a plate 12 resting on the ground, or on coupled wheels, via a ball joint 11 and a retractible prop 10 engaged in a brace 1, 2 articulated to the fittings and locked, receiving the body of the jack 5 via a square tube 7 allowing three orientations at 90 DEG to the latter. The jack consists of a screw 13 comprising four anti-rotation flats, which screw is driven vertically by means of an endless screw/wheel system arranged in a component 22 which can be oriented in three positions at 90 DEG ; the wheel comprises a hub provided with two screw threads engaged on the screw 13; the jack body is made of two parts 20, 21 clamped to the component 22; the endless screw comprises two outputs 29, 30 of hexagonal cross-section interacting with an operating crank 31 or with a chain reducer-return 32 associated with a bar coupling two legs either laterally or longitudinally; the bottom of the screw 13 can receive either a plate 12 or wheels coupled with a towing triangle. <IMAGE>
