The stone is supported by an annular trough 20, on which bears a sleeve 50 mounted so as to slide against an elastic return 52 on a stoning rod 46. The inner shapes of the trough and of the bottom of the sleeve are chosen in order to stand the prune up if necessary, as well as for simultaneously holding it firmly during stoning by the rod 55. The stone is discharged via a lower orifice 21 of the trough, after which it traverses a conveyor belt 10 on which the trough is mounted, as well as a corresponding orifice of the underlying reinforcement 16, in order to be discharged on its own account, whereas the stoned prunes are, elsewhere, conveyed into a container. <IMAGE>
