PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of noise at the time of drop-out by providing the titled device with a drop-out detecting circuit for detecting the evelope of a sound signal obtained from a reproducing amplifier and controlling an FM demodulator so as to mute at the time of no signal of a sound output signal. CONSTITUTION:The drop-out detecting circuit 21 is connected to an output terminal of a reproducing amplifier 19. The detecting circuit 21 detects the envelope of a sound output from the amplifier 19 to detect a drop-out, and at the time of drop-out having no signal, controls a frequency demodulation circuit 20 to mute it. Consequently, no noise is outputted from a speaker 16, offensive sense is removed by a soundless signal and only natural sound can be obtained.
