PURPOSE:To automatically deform states in a hypercolumn and a memory column at the time of leading-in between both the columns and to attain more efficient leading-in by arranging a suppressing means between simple cells positionally corresponding to each other on hyperplanes different in spatial anisotropy. CONSTITUTION:Simple cells 102, 103, 104, 105 on different hyperplanes to which a signal is sent from a receiving cell 101 are brought to a weakly excited state. When the simple cell 105 layered on the hyperplane of i=1 is led into the spatially anisotropic direction, other simple cells are suppressed by a flow shown by an arrow 1A. When the simple cells 105, 102 layered on the hyperplanes of i=1 and i=4 are respectively led into the spatially anisotropic direction, other simple cells are suppressed by flows shown by the arrows 1A, 1B. Consequently, the simple cells on the different hyperplanes can be mutually suppressed, and at the time of leading in the hypercolumn and the memory column, information included in both the columns can be easily deformed.
