PURPOSE:To efficiently fetch an electron beam to the outside of an image carrying body, and to raise the resolution of an image by irradiating the electron beam from an electron beam generating means in the image carrying body, and forming an image corresponding to its irradiating pattern on the image carrying body. CONSTITUTION:The drum 2 of an image carrying body is formed by placing an energy converting layer 22 on a porous supporting body 21, and its inside is evacuated. An electron beam generating means 11 consisting of a solid-state electron beam generating device, etc., and a destaticizing means 9 for destaticizing the inside surface of the drum 2 are fixed to a rotary leading-in terminal 8 which serves as a drum shaft, as well. In this state, an electron beam 3 from the means 11 is converted to a current pattern or a heat pattern by the converting layer 22, converted to a developed image by ink 5 corresponding to each of them and becomes an ink image 51, and transferred onto a transfer material 32. In this way, the electron beam 3 is fetched efficiently to the drum 2, and an image having a high resolution can be formed.
