PURPOSE:To combine a cope and drag in a stable posture by providing a holding mechanism which operates to press insert cores mounted to the cope and to release the pressing. CONSTITUTION:The insert cores 33 are mounted from behind a joined core molding device to rib molding parts 1c of the cope 1. Air is supplied to air cylinders of the holding mechanism 34 to insert bulk pins 37 into the recesses 33a of the cores 33 by which the cores 33 are set to the prescribed position of the cope 1. The cope 1 is rotated 90 deg. by a rotating mechanism to the downward posture and is combined with the drags by the cylinder at the time of combining the cope 1 and the drag 2. After the restraint by the cylinders is released, the cope 1 is moved downward by a lifting cylinder and is combined with the drag 2. The positioning is thereby facilitated and, the cores are surely supported to the cope by the holding mechanism.
