PURPOSE:To permit reproduction with both a reflection type driver and transmission type driver by forming a wavelength selective reflection layer on the side opposite from the incident side of reproduction light of a magneto-optical recording layer. CONSTITUTION:This magneto-optical recording medium 1 is constituted by forming a transparent dielectric protective layer 3, the magneto-optical recording layer 4 and the wavelength selective reflection layer successively on a transparent substrate 2. The wavelength selective reflection layer refers to a layer which allows the transmission of the light of the wavelength longer (or shorter) than a certain prescribed wavelength as a boundary and reflects the light of the wavelength shorter (or longer) than the same. Since the wavelength selective reflection layer is formed on the side opposite from the incident side of the reproduction light of the magneto-optical recording layer, the reading is executed as the transmission type disk if the reproduction light is of the wavelength longer (or shorter) than lambdas. The reading is executed as the reflection type disk if said light is of the wavelength shorter (or longer) than lambdas. The reproduction with both thereflection type driver and the transmission type driver is thus permitted. |
