A solenoid fuel injection valve intended for an internal combustion engine comprises a valve body with a valve seat and a valve piston with a stop edge, which piston in the valve body is moved by a solenoid actuating mechanism between a closed position, in which the stop edge bears on the valve seat and prevents a fuel feed to the engine, and an open position, in which the stop edge is removed from the valve seat and permits a fuel feed to the engine. The valve piston is provided with a metering part, which interacts with the valve seat to limit a metering cross-section when the valve piston is in the open position. The stop edge of the valve piston is arranged downstream of the metering part in the direction of flow of the fuel, so that the metering part in the closed position of the valve piston is constantly immersed in the fuel.
