<p>A process for preparing alkoxyalkyl-substituted phenols represented by formula (I), (wherein R?1, R2, and R3¿ each represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, and R4 represents an alkyl group) in a high yield and with a high selectivity. The process comprises reacting a phenol with an alcohol in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of a tertiary alkylamine, a tertiary unsubstituted benzylamine, a mixture of a tertiary alkylamine with a tertiary unsubstituted benzylamine, an alkali metal carbonate, an alkali metal bicarbonate, and a mixture of an alkali metal carbonate with an alkali metal bicarbonate.</p> |
