<p>A solenoid control valve (10) for use in adaptive braking systems has a unique armature for reducing the operating times of the valve. When the solenoid (52) is energized, the armature (50) moves towards a plunger mechanism (32) which operates to open a ball valve (14) in the inlet of the solenoid control valve (10). When the solenoid (52) is de-energized, a first spring bias means (24) operates to close the ball valve stopping the flow of the fluid from the source (12) to a hydraulic means (26). The unique armature (50) has at least one axially extending passageway (60) from one end surface to the other and in addition has a circular groove (62) intersecting the passageway (60) on the top surface of the armature abutting the plunger (32) to provide a relief means to reduce surface adhesion.</p> |
