For a brake system with a valve arrangement provided in a valve block (13) and actuable by a brake slip control device, a hydraulic brake booster (2) and a tandem brake master cylinder (3), an intermediate plate (9.1), which can be inserted between the tandem brake master cylinder (3) and the valve block (13), is provided for the fitting of a valve device (9) which can be controlled by a wheel slip control device. A compact construction and ease of assembly of the units are thereby achieved. At the same time the connecting line (10, 11, 12) from a main valve, arranged in the tandem brake master cylinder (3), to the pressure chamber of the brake booster (2) in the tandem brake master cylinder (3) is interrupted and led by way of the intermediate plate (9.1), as a result of which the number of external connection lines is reduced. <IMAGE>
