Oxindole alkaloids of formula (I) are claimed as immunostimulant components of medicaments; where R1 = H or OH; R2 = an oxygenated 3C side chain; R3 = Et or vinyl; or R2 + R3 forms a pyran or dihydropyran ring. (I) are alkaloids derived from Uncaria tomentosa, esp. isoperopodine, pteropodine, isomitraphylline, isohynchophylline, mitraphylline, rhynchophylline, allo-isopteropodine, allo-pteropodine and speciophylline. |
