In order to effect ladle heating in the case of a pouring ladle in a manner which is easy to handle, does not require any special ladle design and does not have a detrimental effect on the ladle and the melt to be heated, in the case of a pouring ladle a graphite bar (14) which traverses the ladle (10) and has correspondingly assigned contact heads (15) for electrical connection is arranged in the upper region of the ladle, and a radiation shield (16) which covers the ladle (10) like a lid is arranged thereabove. <IMAGE>
