The invention relates to a transporting apparatus for a cable reel, in particular for optical cables. In order that a hoisting apparatus can also act in the direction of the casing sides of the cable reel, the transporting apparatus is configured as a pallet onto which the cable reel (1), with horizontal winding spindle (5), can be placed and can be secured against rolling off by retaining elements (10 to 13) which rest on the lower region of the circumferential surfaces of the end flanges (2) and are arranged on the pallet (6). Provided at the corners of the pallet (6) are feet (7), by means of which a spacing area, accessible from all sides, is formed between the standing surface and the underside of the pallet (6). <IMAGE>
