A rotating drum sieve has an outer perforated casing (2) enclosing a close-fitting helical flight (4C,D and E) fixed to a central tube (8A). As the sieve is rotated by a geared motor, the feed liquid (6) containing particles to be filtered out enters the end of the central tube (8A) and tumbles out of four openings (11), spaced along the tube at 90 deg. to each other, into the annular space (1). The clean liquid drains into a collection trough underneath and the solids progress along the inside of the casing (2) until they fall through an opening (31) with a stop plate (33) in the continuation tube (8B), located between the last two turns (4D,4E) of the flight, prior to discharge. |
