A method of pre-treating materials, such as titanium alloy metal blanks, to be fabricated into superplastically formed/diffusion bonded structures, including the steps of spraying or silk screen printing selected areas of the materials with an improved "Stopoff" material and force-drying the selected areas to effect rapid curing of the Stopoff. The improved Stofpoff compound provided for this purpose includes ytrrium oxide incorporated in a solution of thermo plastic acrylic ploymer together with an anti-settling or anti-coagulant additive for improved shelf live.
