<p>PURPOSE:To prevent a drop in a reproduction signal and to attain a correct tracking state by varying the way that a head is tracked, detecting a position where a reproduction output becomes maximum and controlling the tracking state with the aid of the detected output. CONSTITUTION:Continuous reproduction signals outputted from a head changeover switch 4 are supplied to an envelope detection circuit 31. Its output signal is supplied to a microcomputer 32 constituting a system controller. The microcomputer 32 controls a switch circuit 8. When a recording mode, for instance, is switched to a reproduction mode, the switch circuit 8 varies the state that the head is tracked. The envelope detection circuit 31 detects reproduction signals from magnetic heads HA and HB, and the tracking state is automatically controlled so that the output of the detection circuit 31 can be maximized. Thus, the correct tracking state can be attained without fail.</p> |
