PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity, characteristics against repeated uses, durability, and the like by incorporating a specified azo compound in a photosensitive layer formed on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer contains as an electric charge carrier generating material at least one of the azo compounds represented by formula I in which each of R1-R3 is H, halogen, alkyl, or alkoxy; A is a coupler residue having a phenolic OH group; and n is 0, 1, or 2, thus permitting charge sensitivity to be kept high at the time of use in positive and negative charging, deterioration of the photosensitive body to be small against repeated uses, and characteristics, such as practicable charge retentivity from low to high temperatures, and from low to high humidities, resistance in sensitivity to change of environmental conditions, and durability to be superior. |
