PURPOSE:To suppress the production of buckling strain in an Si steel sheet and to halve the length of lateral strain in the lateral direction by sticking a grain refiner to one side edge of the steel sheet before finish annealing, coiling the steel sheet, placing the resulting coil on a coil receiving stand so that the edge is brought into contact with the stand and carrying out finish annealing. CONSTITUTION:A grain refiner 7 such as Al or H3BO3 is stuck to one side edge of an Si steel sheet finished to a prescribed thickness by coating in the form of a soln., paste or the like and by drying. The steel sheet is coiled, the resulting coil is placed on a coil receiving stand 2 so that the coated edge is brought into contact with the stand 2 and finish annealing is carried out. During the annealing, the grains of one side edge of the coil 1 are refined by the grain refiner 7 to provide mechanical characteristics and deformation resistance which are different from those of the uncoated part, so the length of buckling strain produced in the lower end of the coil 1 can be considerably reduced even when the steel sheet is very thin. |
