PURPOSE:To permit packing of a gel into a column to the highest density even under a low pressure by feeding a slurry prepd. by dispersing the gel into liquid to the column, feeding a solvent under a constant pressure thereto and repeating such feeding until the inside of the column is filled with the gel in the slurry. CONSTITUTION:The gel slurry is fed to the column 2 by using a slurry feeder consisting of a slurry tank 5 and a pump 6. The flow passage is thereafter changed over by using a flow passage selecting device 7 and while the solvent from a solvent feeder consisting of a solvent tank 4 and a pump 3 is fed to the column, the gel is successively packed into the column 2. Although the amt. of the slurry to be fed per feed varies with the grain size of the gel, the concn. of the slurry and the length of the column, the preferable amt. is about the amt. at which 1-20cm layer height is attained by one time of the slurry feeding. The feeding of the solvent is executed at a constant flow rate in such a manner that the final pressure (the column inside is filled with the gel) attains 30-70kg/cm<2> although said flow rate varies with the grain size of the gel, the diameter of the column, etc. |
