PURPOSE:To prevent the infiltration of the outdoor air into a direct firing zone and to prevent the degradation of thermal efficiency by sealing the spacing between a plating bath for plating a metallic strip and the direct firing zone for alloying the plating with a partition wall in such a manner as to enclose a wiping device. CONSTITUTION:After the heat-treated metallic strip A is immersed into a plating bath 41, the strip is risen therein and the coating weight of the plating is adjusted by the wiping device 61; thereafter, the metallic strip is passed successively through the direct firing zone 11, a holding zone 21 and a cooling zone 31, by which the metallic strip A is subjected to the alloy plating treatment. The spacing between the plating bath 41 and direct firing zone 11 of the above- mentioned alloy plating device is sealed by the partition wall 51 to form a hermetic chamber 52 so as to enclose the wiping device 61. The air from the device 61 is discharged from discharge ports 53, 54 by a blower 71. The infiltration of the outdoor air or the like into the direct firing zone 11 is thereby prevented and the waste of heat energy is eliminated at the time of the heat treatment in the direct firing zone 11.
