PURPOSE:To decrease an access time by fitting a slider so as to be imbedded in a guide bar. CONSTITUTION:A spring characteristic is provided to a gimbal 22 holding the slider 21 is mounted directly to a guide bar 23 so as to fit the slider 21 in a way of being imbedded in the bar 23. Thus, the rigidity of the magnetic head is improved in any direction. Since the slider 21 is imbedded in the guide bar 23, the vibration due to wind or the like is evaded and no limitation is fed onto the direction of seek. Since the guide bar is mounted actually by the shortest distance up to the slider 21 of the magnetic head, the moment of inertia is reduced remarkably, resulting in decreasing the access time (positioning time).
