PURPOSE:To obtain an optical information recording medium having a high reflectivity and a favorable contrast and comprising a coloring matter excellent in preservability, by dissolving a specified cyanine coloring matter in a solvent end applying the resultant solution to a base. CONSTITUTION:An optical information recording medium is obtained by dissolving a cyanine coloring matter of formula I in a solvent and applying the resultant solution to a base to support the coloring matter on the base. In the formula, each of R<1> and R<2> is a 2-8C alkyl, each of aromatic rings A and B is a benzene or naphthalene ring which may be substd. by an alkyl, and n is 2 or 3. The solvent is a 1-4C aliphatic alcohol, preferably, a lower alcohol, particularly, methanol, ethanol or propanol. The base is formed of an optically transparent resin, preferably, a polycarbonate resin. The base is coated with the coloring matter by, for example, dissolving up to 20% of a binder resin and 10<-1>-10<-3> mol/l in a solvent and applying the resultant solution to the base by spin coating, whereby a homogeneous film can be obtained, and a high reflectivity of at least 40% can be obtained. |
