PURPOSE:To easily generate a sentence which has used only a character which a user desires, by selecting and using only a dictionary conforming to a reference designated by the user, from a dictionary group which has been divided in advance, in accordance with the classification reference of a word which the user desires. CONSTITUTION:For instance, when an operator inputs 'KENBAN' (keyboard) from a keyboard 1, and brings it to KANA (Japanese syllabary) to KANJI (Chinese character) conversion, 'KEN' (key of 'KENBAN' is in a JIS 1 level but not a KANJI in common use, therefore, 'KENBAN' is not stored in a dictionary 5a. 'BAN' (board) is in a JIS 1 level, and also a KANJI in common use, therefore, a word of 'KENBAN' is stored in the dictionary 5a. As a result, it is brought to KANJI conversion to 'KENBAN', and outputted to a document editing device 6. In this regard, KANJI of 'KEN' conforms to a condition that it is not JIS 1 nor KANJI in common use, therefore, a word of 'KENBAN' is contained in a dictionary 5d, namely, a dictionary 4. 'KENBAN' which has been read out of the dictionary 5a, and 'KENBAN' which has been read out of the dictionary 5d are displayed on a same sound word display device 2.
